Regardless of when, where, or what family or culture you grow up in, each individual has a set of core needs. These needs manifest differently through each age and stage of life, but are unique in that we never stop needing to feel them to be healthy individuals. These core needs can be expressed in the following statements: 


The need to feel secure:
“I am safe and will be taken care of.”

The need to feel lovable:
“I am valued and I will be seen as worthy.”

The need to feel capable:
“I am enough and I will be resilient.”


As we look for these in all developmental stages and see the connection between the ways our core beliefs were formed, we are able to grow our awareness of our needs, coping strategies, and how to better offer care to ourselves in our daily lives.
